In Abyssea, Decent Challenge can be worth 630 EXP per kill, with the alliance killing 8 a minute, plus the treasure chests that drop being worth another 1500 EXP each. Nobody would have EXPed in an alliance with a traditional party, because an Incredibly Tough +++ monster would have been worth less than 100 EXP. There isn't an EXP penalty for having the largest party/alliance possible in Abyssea due to how the chain and light bonuses work. You can stay AFK in an Abyssea party and go from level 30 to level 99 with 30 merits in about 12 hours. Get 75 before you even enter Abyssea, please god. Eventually you'll be 99 whatever and will be able to solo most of the games story content, so try using Grounds of Valor in between your Abyssea parties, and don't be in such a big hurry to grow up.ĮDIT: It should be noted (as others have) - it's really meant for levels 75+. Those spralling zones/dungeons are what XI really is/was meant to be. Square Enix spent the most money/time developing all of the "out dated" content in the game. Don't race your first character, don't blast through the entire mid-game/75-99. But dude, I'll be really honest with you. Not to get all "back in my day" or anything, I guess we should still be glad the servers are still on etc. It came out when the level cap increases started to take characters past 75, replaced a bunch of gear that people spent years and years working towards with some really ugly reskined NPC freebies, and replaced the subtle brilliance of a perfectly balanced exp party with the chaos/over powered Abyssea EXP alliances.
